There really was an art to eyebrow shaping back in Hollywood’s Golden Era. When each young actress had their big Hollywood studio makeover their brows were plucked and teased (and sometimes even removed and pencilled in) in the process of turning them from a regular girl to a screen goddess. Each leading lady was able to express a thousand words with just the slightest twitch of a groomed brow.
From the pencil thin eyebrows of the 1930s, to the heavier styles of the 40s and 50s, each Hollywood actress had a distinctive brow shape which was unique to them. Audrey Hepburn had straight angular eyebrows while Marilyn had a high arched curve, each chosen to enhance the star’s beauty by the big Hollywood machine.
